A RETIREMENT village in Test Valley is set to mark their ten year anniversary this month.

Grove Place Retirement Village, Upton Lane, will celebrate the milestone in style with a Wizard of Oz and the Tin Man garden party.

The village will be transformed with its very own ‘yellow brick road’, entertainment from jazz singer Katie Francesca.

Residents will also be able to enjoy a barbeque and a fancy dress competition, which will see the care team dress up as munchkins where they will race each other.

There will also be a presentation to the longest-serving resident, Joan Norman, as well as three of the original members of staff - head housekeeper Lisa Mills, housekeeper Angie Maule and maintenance manager Colin Penny, who will be celebrating ten years of service.

The team at Grove Place will also be taking photographs of the day to create a time capsule designed to capture history in the making.

Grove Place’s general manager, David Knight said: “We are really looking forward to the 10th anniversary garden party.

"We have spent some time planning a fitting tribute and a truly stand-out event. It’s also important to acknowledge the staff who have been here from the very beginning who do so much to make Grove Place the outstanding retirement village that it is."

The event for residents and staff will take place between 12pm and 4pm.

Viewings of the available apartments, bungalows and magnificent facilities will take place throughout the day.
