PARENTS have been accused of supplying alcohol to underage drinkers in a Hampshire parish blighted by antisocial behaviour.
Fawley residents packed a public meeting last night to protest about the violence and other problems being caused by gangs of drink-fuelled yobs.
Several speakers blamed irresponsible parents for some of the trouble that was occurring in Fawley and nearby Blackfield.
They claimed that couples had driven their children to places such as Calshot Beach and dropped them off for the evening "with crates of booze".
Residents also alleged that underage drinkers were obtaining alcohol from some licensed premises in the area.
Chief Insp Gary Cooper, one of several police officers at the meeting, said 200 young people had been stopped over the summer and more than 220 vessels of alcohol confiscated.
He added: "I accept there may have been issues with licensed premises but parents are a bigger problem."
The meeting was called following an incident involving Indian sailor Gregory Fernandes, who collapsed and died after being attacked by 20 youths in Church Lane, Fawley, last month.
Mr Fernandes, 32, was assaulted as he and a friend were returning to their ship, which was moored at Fawley refinery.

Make sure those shops selling alcohol abide by the law. Close them down if hey don't.
Make sure those caught drunk and disorderly get the criminal record they deserve. Remind them that they then don't get their trips to Florida under the US visa waiver programme and that said criminal record is with them for life, together with the DNA extracted from their drunken mouths!

suppose i could say that a) i havent blamed immigration for the killing of a man but the reason behinds it. The reason why a very high percentage wouldnt give a asian/indian the time of day or even have some much hatered for other races. b) if these nippas didnt have a low opinuion of indians this wouldnt of happened.
your right and its been pretty obvious from the start, i aient a big fan myself ... only because im sick of hearing boo hoo story about every incident involving asians, racist attacks are commited by both sides, yet its only front page material if the asian is the victim. this certain story is tragic and it shouldnt of happened but its not the first, what makes this that little bit special?

Frightening thought for them if they then got hard prison time.
Oh and no trips to Florida theme parks as their crimes will prevent them from flying into US airspace. The future is looking slightly better already.

As for high profile cases. We recently had the tragic case of the Indian bloke who raped and murdered that young girl from Portswood a few years back.
That was front page and national coverage.The extradition issue was front page news.There are many similar cases in the news as already suggested.
Your argument holds as much water as blaming the murder of a sailor from Goa on immigration.
You should get out more.Maybe read a few books and propers newspapers.

the people who commit these crimes obviously have a grudge against his race. my point is, why do they have this judgement .... The fact that we have sooooo many based in england who from my expiernce dont give the best impression of their race, gangs, taking over streets, drugs etc. This is mainly polygon , st marys , northam and such. I havent always felt this way and im not hitlers cousin. If we cut down on who were importing in to the country and worked on how to mix races we ALREADY got with white english minus the hate. We dont need more immigrants tarring their races apperance, when even the innocent ones that visit are murdered or attacked.

Unfortunately there are large social areas around Southampton and it appears that many of the kids involved in this fracas were from the nearby council estate. In fact, if you scan through the pages of the Echo you will see that vast majority of the criminal acts in the local area have either centred on people from these estates or by people from these estates. Weston Towers, Merry Oak, Thornhill, Heather Road Fawley and Millbrook.
It's really time to put respect into the community. People need to be made to work for things in life again so that they can understand and appreciate value. Stop giving these people things on a plate and either bull doze these estates or re-populate them with people with respect about their communities.
