Two dead in road crash

TWO women from Southampton have been killed in a car crash in the county.

The pair were in a blue Renault Clio travelling in Basingstoke when they were in a head-on crash with Renault Laguna.

The accident happened on the busy A30, on a stretch of road between Kempshott roundabout and Sainsbury's roundabout, last night around 4pm.

The route was closed for several hours while the scene was examined and vehicles recovered.

A 59-year-old woman driving the car and her 79-year-old passenger, both from the Shirley area, died after the crash.

A 33-year-old man from Basingstoke was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and has been bailed until March.

Officers in the Farnborough roads policing unit are investigating the fatal accident and are appealing for anyone with information to contact them on 0845 045 4545.

Obviously sorry to read about those killed.

But Renault on Renault is unusual to read about. Just how safe are their smaller cars?

More senseless deaths caused by an impatient driver gambling their life and those of others to save what, two minutes if that? I hope that the woman who was arrested gets a nice long sentence to act as a deterrant to the other nutters out there on our roads, and the are plenty of them.

My thoughts go out to the friends and family of the victims.

Thank you all for your lovely messages. We are all still reeling from this tragic accident. We are all still in shock and i for one still cannot get my head round it. To lose one person is terrible but two of my family members in one day is too much to handle. I cant understand it. Feel like im going to go to dancing tomorrow and she will be there.
My nanny was one in a million. She came to all my parties and shook her butt with all my friends. A beautiful lady inside and out.

Both of these women inspired me and i cant thank them enough. I love them with all my heart and more. Not only were they my family, but friends too. Cant believe it was only Wednesday i saw mo at dancing and she helped me with my confidence with my teaching.

I owe nanny and Maureen so much. They both still had so much to give. I cannot explain the families pain. But we need to keep Emjay alive. Both nanny and mo loved dancing. Now we need to keep Mo's love for emjay going.

I love you both so so much. part of my heart is missing.

Miss you so much. I love you.

Oh Maureen, what a dedicated inspirational person you were.I along with Chrissie, Elizabeth, Debbie, Jackie and others were the first pupils you had back in 1972, and you gave me the love of dance and the self belief that took me to London and experiences I treasure to this day. I am so glad that my children had the good fortune to be taught by you, and the discipline which you have instilled in them will set them up for life.
Your loss is incalculable, the love and respect you earned imeasurable and I hope that your family can take some comfort from the fact that you were adored by so many.
To all the family words are not enough but you are all in my thoughts and prayers, a remarkable lady who I feel very priviliged to have known and loved. Dance was her life so girls and boys take care of each other and make her proud.

What more can I say about Maureen that has not already been said in the comments above?

Well here goes… Momo truly was special and unique. She inspired and motivated every one of us at Emjays to be the best dancer that we could be. She could always see the potential within each of us, and was determined to let us shine.

She had the integrity to give every pupil, her full attention (occasionally we wished she wouldn’t, lol) and support. She instilled a joy of dance and a feeling of accomplishment in every one of us, and in return we always gave our best (actually we couldn’t get away with any less. Lol.).

It is hard to imagine Emjays, without her at the helm. I am going to miss her so much - I loved her.

My thoughts are with her family at this sad time, especially to Donna, Di, Big Sis (Michelle) and Nicky.

Love to you all

Lisa

Dear Maureen and Beryl – two exceptional and very special ladies. Words are unable to express our utter sadness over this tragedy. Maureen has been a major part of our family’s lives for the past 27 years – inspiring Keeley and Paul to become professional teachers and dancers, performing in the West End and other major productions all round the world. Maureen was unique in her ability to bring out the potential of every child she taught – not just the talent as a dancer, whether in bucketfuls or spoonfuls, but in being the best that they could possibly be in anything they did. She gave each child the gift of confidence, regardless of any disadvantage they may have. She did a good job on the mums too! So privileged to have known her and to have had her as a friend - thank you so much for all the fun and laughs we've shared. We will miss you forever. Our hearts go out to all her wonderful family Cox/Driscoll/Paull at this tragic time. Love to you all from the Omasta family.

Maureen was an extremely creative and modest lady and will be sorely missed by everyone particulary 'her girls and boys'who she devoted so much time and encouragement to, regardless of their ability. You have been a huge part of mine and Chloe's life for so many years - we still can't take in what has happened. Never one to seek gratitude I'm sure you'd be overwhelmed with all these messages of love and appreciation but that's what you meant to all of us. It wont be the same without you Maureen but your memory and what you gave to all our girls will never be forgotten. Thank you so very much

With our love
Jan & Chloe

I can't explain how much you inspired me to be the person that I am today. I have known you since I was 3 years old and I am now 14, you watched me grow up and you gave me such excellent guidance over the years. You gave me the confidence to dance which made me want to reach my goals. You were preparing us for our exams and I don't think I will get through them unless you were there to guide me, but I will push myself and dance my heart out just to make you proud of us Emjay girls. The opportunities you gave me in the groups I will cherish forever.

I love you Momo

Dear Maureen
I can not believe you are no longer here. you were so much more than a dance teacher you were like a 2nd mum to me and many others.
I can't believe I will never hear you say stand up straight, tummy in shoulders back head up and smile, Bethany get your arms right.
At 1st I didn't think I could come back to dancing without you but now I want to make you proud and dance better than ever. in every dance step I do I will remember all you have teached me. Thankyou for believing in me and having patience with me.
Rest in peace with your mummy goodbye Maureen
love you loads
