THEY were on the march to show that women come in all shapes and sizes.

Fifty women brought Winchester shoppers to a jaw-dropping standstill as they paraded through the High Street dressed only in their underwear.

Taking part in the filming for the new series of TV's How To Look Good Naked, women of all ages braved the bitter chill and spent the day at different locations in the city, ending in a wide-eyed spectacle in front of gathering crowds.

Featured in the new series of the fashion show which looks to emphasise the assets of women of all shapes and sizes, the group of scantily-clad females were first spotted marching along by the river side by Wharf Mill before taking to the nearby residential area of College Walk.

The camera crews later filmed the girls stripping to their underwear in the city centre's Little Minster Street before surprising shoppers and workers in the High Street.

University of Winchester students Natalie Adams and Laura Townsend (shown left) were eager to sign up to the stunt, which will be used to introduce the show's consumer testing feature where a hundred women test the latest cosmetic products.

"It's very cold but a lot of fun and it's to show that it's ok to be different shapes and sizes," said 20-year-old Laura.

Natalie, 19, added: "Most people are unhappy about the way they look and would change something about themselves. I think we are all doing this to show that we are confident with who we are and it doesn't matter what you look like as long as you are happy with yourself."

Chrissie Butler, from the company Maverick, which produces the show, praised the women, many from Hampshire, for volunteering for the filming and said that Winchester was a natural location for the shoot.

"The ladies have all been great and everyone in Winchester has been very friendly for the filming.

"We needed somewhere small with pretty streets and Winchester is a beautiful city and was a natural choice," she added.

The revealing scenes can be seen throughout the next series of the programme, which starts on April 1.
