Hoaxer blamed for alarming locals (From Daily Echo)

A HOAXER is being blamed for fake planning notices claiming 600 new homes are to be built on a Hampshire greenfield site.

Official-looking bright orange signs have appeared around Portchester, causing worried residents to inundate Fareham Borough Council with queries.

Councillors have reassured residents there are no current plans to develop on open land in the area.

Officers have now removed the posters, and the authority is warning it could take legal action if those responsible are traced.
