LEGENDARY musician Meat Loaf will be performing a spectacular open air show in Romsey in July.

He completes the line up of artists appearing at Broadlands this summer, which already includes singer songwriter Katie Melua on Friday July 4 and reformed chart toppers Boyzone on Saturday July 5.

Meat Loaf takes to the stage the following night with a show set to include some of his string of worldwide hits including Bat Out Of Hell, You Took The Words Right Out Of My Mouth, It's All Coming Back To Me Now, Dead Ringer For Love and I'd Do Anything For Love (But I Won't Do That).

Meat Loaf, born Marvin Lee Aday in September 1947, is renowned for the power and drama of his live shows.

The American rock singer and actor of stage and screen is noted for his albums Bat Out Of Hell and its two follow-ups and several famous songs from movies.

His successful music career has spawned some of the largest-selling albums, and broken several records for chart duration.

Bat Out Of Hell, the debut album which had been four years in the making, has sold over 37 million copies.

After almost 30 years, it still sells an estimated 200,000 copies annually, and stayed in the charts for more than nine years. Each of the seven tracks on the album eventually charted as a hit single.

Meat Loaf has also appeared in more than 50 movies or television shows sometimes as himself, or as characters resembling his stage persona. His most notable roles include Eddie in The Rocky Horror Picture Show and Bob Paulson in Fight Club.

Last year, Meat Loaf granted filmmaker Bruce David Klein exclusive access for a backstage documentary, Meat Loaf: In Search of Paradise, shot in February 2007 at the beginning of the singer's tour in support of Bat Out of Hell III. The film was an official selection of the Montreal World Film Festival in 2007.

Tickets to see Meat Loaf at Broadlands on Sunday July 8 are £37.50 and go on sale at 9am tomorrow.

Very true but the real credit for the album BOOH most go to

I think you will find that he was not booed off the stage! There were plenty of people cheering him! He had a major cyst on his throat, WTF did you want him to do! Pity you don't have a cyst on your typing hand, you knob jockey! Meat Loaf's shows are always sold out! So there must a lot of people who love his concerts. He has the third biggest selling album of all time!
Seriously you people slagging him off, wouldn't know an outstanding voice if it bit you in the arse!

Worrying to see that the southern bad taste extends to music as well as liking crap beer. Such a positive response to a major rock star appearing in your locality. Sad lot! Not even the press can get it right ... it's July 6th!

Meat Loaf has consistently toured the world and sold out major venues for the last 30 plus years. He's a class act, with a fantatsic show. Get over yourselves and get a life!

I am a Meat Loaf fan. The posts slagging Meat are amusing. Sometimes people confuse Meat Loaf and BOOH. Wake up folks, there is a lot more Meat Loaf out there than just his original album. People in Romsey are in for a treat, Meat puts on an incredible performance. He puts everything into every show (though he's his own worst critic).

Just to bring you up to speed. Meat Loaf released Bat Out of Hell 3: The Monster's Loose, in 2006 and has been on tour since.

Personally I think the album is fantastic. Give it a try.

It's pretty simple, if you dont like him then dont go to the show :? But don't crap on those who want to have a good night, different people like different types of music, so what, let them do what they wanna do. There are lots of artists i dont like but i wouldnt call their fans crazy or nuts or any of the othe things meat fans get called, i just accept that they like something different to me.

Meatloaf is a nice guy, but his music is just so old hat! The trouble with many Meatloaf fans is that they are dreamers..just like Harley Davidson owners. Of course he's huge in the states but lets face it, flares never went out of fashion in the US did they, they are a nation who dream of life being like it is in the 'movies'. Unfortunetly it isnt! Harley Davidson, Coca Cola, MacDonalds, Meatloaf..they're ALL corporate concerns selling a comodity..nothing more. Meatloaf is not a god, he's just a nice guy with quite a good voice who puts on a good show to dreamers. But whats wrong with dreaming anyway? Nothing as long as you know it's just an act and that after the show Marvin Aday goes home to do what he does in his 'real' life. It's just my opinion of course.. :-)

I think youll find that Meat Loaf has had more success in the UK and Europe than he has in the states. So what if we're dreamers? Dreams are the only thing that get you through the lonely nights.

Of course he's a normal bloke just like you and me (give or take the odd million of course ;o)), but he's a **** fine entertainer, always willing to put his all into giving people the show they deserve because they've spent their hard earned money on a ticket.

The sceptics should go along and be preapred to eat some words afterwards perhaps.

Look, I don't see why everyone is getting worked up about it. It's all a matter of opinion. That's what’s great about this country, freedom to think and freedom to express your views. If we were living in the Middle East or China we probably wouldn't be allowed / able to have this debate. Some people think meatball isn't great some people think he is. The fact that people who think meatball is great are completely and utterly wrong / deluded / off their trolley, is not the point; they are welcome to that view.

I for one will make a point of being no where near Romsey on the night in question that fat boy is “singing” (in the loosest possible term) in Romsey.

I can't believe some of you pathetic losers saying such crap about greatest singer in the world. Meat Loaf has sold millions of albums and is still going strong 30 years after his fisrt album was released and selling out concerts all over the world. He is the most amazing performer I have ever seen live and his voice is magnificent. I'm flying all the way from Australia just to see him perform, that's how much I love him.

Meat's sold well over 45m records, his BOOH album is still in the top five best sellers ever, he packs out huge arenas in the UK every time he tours, his gigs at the Royal Albert Hall and MSG in New York to launch his marvellous new album Bat 3 each sold out within a couple of hours .. Millions of people appreciate his stage performances and the fact he gives 150% every time he sets foot on stage, and his fans' ages span 10 to 70 ..

Why do people come on to these internet sites to post daft and negative rubbish, and so rudely? I guess, like dogs lick themselves, because they can .. but I'll bet none of these people have achieved, nor ever will achieve a tiny, tiny fraction of the amazing success he has managed to sustain for over three decades ... perhaps there's a clue there? :)

Meanwhile .. Meat continues to do what he does with such consummate skill, continues to enjoy a level of success in his chosen field that most people could only dream of .. and lights another cigar!!

Exacly, after all, Australia was the first ever to make Anything for love number 1.

If you don't like Meat Loaf, then that is fine, just you don't need to be so attacking, as someone already said, he must be doing something right, after all, he is more successfull than most of us ever will be, or ever will 'DREAM' to be.

Its a shame that there are such one minded, negetive people in the world.... and sceptic.... of course "Sex and DRUMS and rock n roll!" is old hat, Hello, it was written a while ago, not yesterday.

I bet none of you nay-sayers have even listened to Bat III, or even listened to the lyrics properly in any of his music for that matter.

I don't care if you don't like him, but try not to be so rude, he has feelings you know, like everyone else.
