AS a one-time resident of Lyndhurst, I would like to take this opportunity to say that the decision by local residents and councillors to oppose the proposed bypasses is conservative to the point of being reactionary.
The possible belief that sea levels will rise so much as to invalidate the need for any changes to traffic circulation is just not tenable.
There has arisen now the opportunity to transform the High Street, from the Queens House and Junior School to the turning into Gosport Lane into a pleasant piazza, free from offensive traffic, for all to enjoy.
To this end, I think that the possibility of building both these new roads should be pursued vigorously. I feel, also, that this prize will be a patrimony that will enhance both the village and all of the Forest.
