ANTON Junior School's football team travelled to St Mary's Stadium in Southampton to take part in the 2008 regional schools tournament.
The boys originally qualified for the Hampshire Finals after winning several matches for their region and were thrilled to have secured a place playing with the 15 other best teams in the county.
Their scores at St Mary's were mixed with a defeat at the beginning followed by wins in further group matches.
They then hit the quarter final knocking a Southampton school out of the water with a final score of 2-1.
Unfortunately their success rate ended at the semi-final where they lost out on a place in the final by one goal.
As well as the memory of playing on the St Mary's pitch for the second year in a row each member of the team was given a Saints wallet and met footballer Matt Le Tissier.
"I was so proud of the boys," said headteacher Tom Donohoe.
"It is a terrific achievement to get through to the last four out of all the schools in Hampshire.
"It is the second year running Anton have qualified to play at St Mary's and I know the lads had a really memorable day."
