DOZENS of volunteers from a Hampshire pub put all hands on the deck to revamp a local sailing charity's tall ship.

Happy helpers from West End set about varnishing, painting and tidying the Jubilee Sailing Trust's tall ship Tenacious as well as their 12-year-old van as part of a community project.

The volunteers were rounded up by the White Swan after the Woolston-based charity was nominated for the revamp.

The pub, which recently underwent a refurbishment itself, then raised £1,000 to help with the work.

Pub manager Anthony Tracey said: "We are delighted to be able to help out our very deserving neighbour.

"We've been working very hard getting the pub ready for summer and wanted to help our local community do the same."

JST chief executive Amanda Butcher said: "I am delighted The White Swan chose to support the JST.

"The work put in by the staff has helped keep the 12-year-old JST van in a serviceable condition for the foreseeable future.

"Their hard work is a clear demonstration of their commitment to a local charity and a tribute to their organisation."
