HIGH street giant Next has closed its flagship Home store in Southampton.

The huge 15,000 square foot outlet at West Quay Retail Park is now lying empty.

Signs in the window direct shoppers to the Hedge End store, although the clothes shop in Westquay remains open.

When the store opened back in the summer of 2010, it was heralded as the biggest new store opening of the year by Next.

It stocked a mixture of furniture, kitchenware, tableware and domestic appliances.

The store also sold a children’s wear range and originally housed a Starbucks café.
