It is set to be a night of glamour with backing from some of the world's hottest stars for Hampshire teenager Sophie Wilkinson.

From Hollywood favourite Johnny Depp to sexy screen siren Angelina Jolie, they have all pledged their support to Sophie's Gift.

But there are only a few more days to get your hands on tickets for the glitzy gala ball and help the Wilkinson family raise hundreds of thousands of pounds in just one night.

This Saturday Hampshire will be injected with glamour as hundreds, including James Beattie and Chris Tarrant gather at the Macdonald Botley Park and Country Club.

The Wilkinson family, from Bishop's Waltham, has set up the Sophie's Gift Fundraising Programme with the huge task of raising £250,000 in one night at a star-studded gala ball.

Sophie's first gift will be a Ceretom head and neck mobile CT scanner, with extra funds used to buy other equipment for by the Wessex Neurological Centre at Southampton University Hospital NHS Trust.

Guests will be treated to an evening of live entertainment as well as an exclusive auction with one-off items on offer such as a signed guitar from U2.

Sophie has been in a coma since a car crash last October, but the 18-year-old has continued to fight and has been making slow progress.

In recent weeks she has begun to respond to commands, make vocalisations and recognise loved ones when they visit her at Royal National Hospital for Rheumatic Diseases in Bath.

Dad Andrew said: "A few days ago I spent the day with Sophie and can truly say it was one of the best days so far in her long road to recovery.

"Expecting to see Sophie fast asleep in bed, I turned into the entrance shouting: Hi darling, it's your favourite person here'.

"What greeted me was nothing short of inspiring, a wonderful huge Sophie smile. I had to turn round and compose myself and wipe the tears streaming down my face before I could walk up to her and give her the biggest hug a dad could ever give.

"We want to epitomise her phenomenal fighting spirit by giving something back to the department that has done so much to help Sophie's fight."
