Nightmare is over for Hartley brothers

9:24am Wednesday 9th July 2008

TWO Hampshire parents were today celebrating the end of one of the toughest and longest journeys any family could ever go through.

This morning David and Allison Hartley were finally able to draw a line under their fight against a killer genetic condition that affected all four of their young sons.

The only cure was a gruelling bone marrow transplant for each boy.

Joshua, 16, Nathan, 14, and 12-year-old Daniel all underwent successful procedures but Luke needed two attempts before doctors were successful.

A virus and complications from the second transplant have kept him off school until today.
