BILINGUAL school pupils from Hampshire are celebrating after being shortlisted for a prestigious national film award.
The youngsters from Noadswood School in Dibden Purlieu made a short film to promote the benefits of learning a language through film.
The Languages and Film Talent Awards (LAFTAs) organised the competition for 13-21-year-olds with a host of celebrity judges including Sir Trevor McDonald and comedian Eddie Izzard.
Young people were invited to submit two-minute films illustrating why it is important to learn a language, with entries ranging from being lost in a foreign country, meeting the love of your life, to being attacked by sharks, cannibals or dragons.
Led by teacher Julia Hinton, the Noadswood pupils made the video Languages, what's the point, highlighting the usefulness of having another language - especially if you happen to meet Thierry Henry.
The final winner is to be announced at a star-studded ceremony on September 25. The public can also vote online for a people's choice award. To vote log on to dailyecho.co.uk.
