A NEW NHS dentist is opening its doors for 6,000 patients in Romsey.
Residents are being invited to register for the practice which is looking to take on the new patients over the next year.
Hampshire Primary Care Trust (PCT) is asking anyone who would like to sign up to call the dental helpline instead of visiting the practice as they will not be able to accept people who go directly to them.
A spokesman for the PCT added: "In order to make sure that patients do not have to wait too long to see a dentist, a limited number of names will be taken each month - this is to prevent the build up of long waiting times for appointments.
"If you do not need to see a dentist immediately, it would be very helpful if you could wait a month or two, so that people needing more urgent care can be seen first."
People who would like to register should call the helpline on 0845 050 8345, Monday to Friday between 2.30pm and 5.30pm.
