DISTRESSED dad Dave Cass phoned his family to say he had murdered his two daughters before killing himself.

He is believed to have killed his two daughters - Izzy aged one and Ellie, aged three - before he hanged himself.

A police investigation was underway today intot he tragedy which happened at scene at Paynes Road MOT garage, Freemantle, Southampton.

The 32-year-old had been living in a caravan at the garage since splitting from the two girls' mother.

He had worked there as a self-employed MOT tester for several years but had handed his notice in to his boss last Friday and was working his notice.

It is understood his distressed partner had raised the alarm, calling 999 when she returned home to find a note from the children's father, telling her he was going to harm them.

The road was immediately closed off from its junction with Waterloo Road while more than a dozen police vans and patrol cars descended on the area just before 7pm.

this is a terrible tradegy.Heartfelt condolences to all left to bear the sorrow for the loss of two little angels caught up in something beyond their control that they have paid such a terrible price for,The father was obviously not in the right state of mind but as a father myself i simply cannot understand how he could do this....absolutely tragic

I will bet good money he was on anti depressants, THE no.1 cause of family related murder/suicides in America.

Such selfishness, and that is what it is, has become all too common. If an individual wants death then by all means - sell tickets for the event for all I would care. Do not though take the life of any other person as well, it is not your right!

Please stop for a second, and think this poor man suffered for along time trying to make his family work, the fear of losing his children, for what trying to be the best dad he could, who are we to pass judgement untill we are in that situation, untill we are told thats the last time you will see your children. Today children are used as weapons in relationship breakdowns, this man clearly could not bare the thought of losing them. Anyone question the mother and what role she played I THINK NOT, people are to quick to judge in this world, this man must of been so poorly, scared and lost (THINK ABOUT THAT) question why there was not obviously enough help for him. A tragic end. RIP.X

Silly post.

This man must have been "so poorly, scared and lost" he just HAD to murder his own children did he?

Not only that, he HAD to phone his ex-wife and tell her first.

Poorly? Mentally, yes.

Scared and lost? Maybe not.

Lets hope the children are happy in heaven and the father rots in hell. RIP.

It's very easy for idiots like you to talk about forgiveness - I wonder how forgiving you would be if they were your children!
Absolute nonsense from the "legal system v Dads" quarter.
If the courts and my wife stopped me from seeing my child subsequent to a separation/divorce, the last person I would have murderous tendancies towards would be the child.
Stop making excuses for an evil and spiteful act of the very worst kind.

Also, if this man had lived people would not be saying we should forgive him as he must of been ill and desperate, they would be calling him a murdering evil ****!...People are only feeling sorry for him because he is dead too....I think maybe he killed the girls for revenge on the mother and killed himself so he didnt have to face the music, I agree this man was sick....but that is NO excuse for taking your childrens lives and he is dead but he died a murderer!!

My heart goes out to all family and friends and most of all the mother xxxxx
