A MOTORCYLIST is tonight still fighting for life after a serious accident in Hampshire.

The 43-year-old suffered head, chest and spinal injuries after the crash near Owslebury.

He is currently in Southampton General Hospital where his condition has bee described as "critical".

Along with the rider from Winchester, three other vehicles were involved in the collision on Morestead Road near Whitechapel Farm.

Police want to trace a motorist in a silver-coloured hatchback who might have witnessed the accident.

Sergeant Simon Goss said: "I need to reassure the driver that he or she is not suspected of anything, but that person may have important information about the circumstances of the collision. We do need to hear from you."

The crash happened at 5pm on Thursday.

Police said a Rover MG driven by a 24-year-old Eastleigh man collided with a Peugeot 306 driven by a 24-year-old Winchester man on a left-hand bend.

They added that a black Vauxhall Astra, driven by a 45-year-old Waterlooville woman, then swerved to avoid the debris.

Police said the black Yamaha motorbike coming the opposite way then crashed into the Vauxhall.

They said the motorist suffered shock and was treated at the Royal Hampshire County Hospital in Winchester and then released.

The motorcyclist was taken by air ambulance to Southampton hospital.

Any witnesses are urged to call Cosham roads policing unit on 0845 045 4545 quoting Operation Vallo, or the anonymous Crimestoppers line on 0800 555111.

Wishing this poor biker a speedy recovery.

To those who commented on this story last week without knowing the full facts, here's your words for eating!

Denzil, Chilworth says...
Funny these stories keep appearing isn't it. I hope the rider gets better but I bet you his speeding was a major factor in the accident.

Ocean Village resident, Soton says...
This is getting boring.
When will people wake up and smell the coffee?
Motorcyclists are creating chaos on our roads.

I suggest the anti-bike brigage checks their facts before they make assumptions. A large number of bike accidents are caused by car drivers. Stop making sweeping generalisations, the last time I looked it was still a free country.

It sickens me that some people choose to throw accusations around when someone is in hospital fighting for his life and other involved are traumtised.

Do these people just seek attention or do they just love the shock factor they create.

Whatever, they should keep their sick opinions to themselves.

I happen to know one of those involved and he would do anything for anyone.

It was a sad accident, no more no less.

Ha! makes me laugh when you get these so called "wonderful" car drivers gobbing off about bikers.....9 times out of ten its people like them that have a detrimental hand in an awful lot of bikers being killed or seriously injured.
I think also that i should remind car drivers that they DONT have a monopoly on the roads, we ALL pay our Taxes.

I know what happened - A car swerved to avoid hitting a pheasant right into the path of another car, a 3rd car came round the corner and swerved to avoid hitting the 2 cars that has already collided, right into the path of the bike rider. It wasn't the bike riders fault he was just driving on his side of the
road.

I wish him a very quick recovery.

Does any one know how he is? I live about 5 or 10 minutes away from where it happened. My dad works with one of his good friends but we still don't know.
