THE last desperate phone call made by Hannah Foster as she tried to contact the emergency services has been played in court.
Jurors heard the recording of Hannah’s 999 call that is alleged to have been made while she was in a van being driven by Maninder Pal Singh Kohli, the man accused of her murder.
On the recording, which lasted less than a minute, Hannah’s voice can be heard along with that of a man who it is claimed by the prosecution is Kohli.
Hannah’s family left the court before the recording was played.
At times more than more than two voices could be heard at once on the recording, a transcript of which can be read below.
After listening to it in open court jurors at Winchester Crown Court were given personal earphones to hear the recording that had been specially enhanced by a BT engineer. It was played a further five times.
As previously reported the call to the emergency services was disconnected after being put through to an automated service as no one was heard speaking directly to the operator.
The prosecution claim Kohli abducted, falsely imprisoned, raped and murdered Hannah after snatching her from the street as she made her way home from a night out with friends in March 2003.
The 40-year-old of no fixed abode denies all the charges.
