POLICE are appealing for help in tracing a package of stolen fireworks including 20 Thunderflash bangers and 30 airsoft smoke grenades.
They were supposed to be delivered to an address in Hillyfields, Nursling, but were signed for by a man who claimed to be a neighbour of the intended recipient.
However, it was later discovered that the man who took the fireworks last Tuesday at around 10.30am was not a neighbour.
The following day the man who originally ordered the fireworks heard what he believed to be one of the bangers being let off nearby.
When he went to investigate he found the wrapping of a thunderflash banger.
PC Helen Armstrong said: “These fireworks are the same as those sold over the counter and are not dangerous provided they are used in accordance with the proper instructions.
“There are concerns that these fireworks may be in the hands of someone who may use them inappropriately and could cause injury to themselves or others.
“We are also investigating the report that the fireworks were obtained by deceiving the delivery driver.”
■ Anyone who has information should call PC Armstrong on 0845 045 45 45, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

The Fuzz had better be quick on this one. Intelligence reports indicate that the evidence may be destroyed in the next few days.
