A HAMPSHIRE man’s hunt to find the woman of his dreams who looks like TV’s Ugly Betty has become so popular that he has had to take on his search fulltime.
Adam Pacitti’s campaign to find the woman – a lookalike for US comedy TV character Ugly Betty played by America Ferrera in the title role – has captured the imagination of the public so much that it is taking over his life.
Now the 20-year-old has shelved English studies at Winchester University and moved back to his home on the Isle of Wight to plough all his energies into finding the love of his life.
Since the Daily Echo revealed Adam’s bizarre hunt his website has received more than one million hits.
He has appeared on GMTV and LK Today with Lorraine Kelly, and Richard and Judy’s New Position on digital channel Watch.
His search has also been featured on The Graham Norton Show, in several magazines and a television production firm also wants to film a documentary early next year.
However, he is yet to find the woman matching his original sketch, which he drew immediately after having his dream three months ago.
Adam also wants to extend his campaign outside the UK, having so far failed to find his dream girl in Britain.
He said: “It’s just been so busy. This search has in effect become my job as I haven’t got the time to do anything else.
“Hopefully I’ll find her, and then I’ll be able to go back to my studies.”
On finding the girl of his dreams, Adam said the first thing he plans to do is to propose marriage.
