Fluoride in tap water plans approved by council chiefs

SOUTHAMPTON'S councillors tonight voted to back plans to add fluoride to the city's water to save thousands of kids teeth from decay.

Health chiefs want to improve poor dental health among youngsters in the city by controversially adding fluoride to the tap water delivered to two-thirds of residents.

A special panel of city councillors set up to examine the proposal had recommended 160,000 city residents should have levels of fluoride in their tap water topped up from the natural 0.08 parts per million to one part per million.

Anti-fluoride campaigners vowed to continue their fight.

The final decision will be made by the South Central Strategic Health Authority in February.

So that's 12.5 times more fluoride in my water. That's some increase to add to the extra I get twice a day from my toothpaste.

"The final decision (to add this poison) will be announced by the South Central Strategic Health Authority in February" - there, fixed it.

How many people want it added?

GOOD..If there were more N.H.S dentist then there wouldn't be the need to put Fluoride in the water! (would there?!?)

1) Provide more dentists.
2) Penalise those parents who could'nt give a **** if there childs teeth are healthy or not.
3) Remove vending machines from schools that sell sugary foods and drinks.

Yes, make a note of every councillor who has voted in favour of this outrage and make sure you and your friends dont vote for him or her. Also, now is the time to begin writing to the water companies telling them that you will not pay them for contaminated water and that will also deduct the cost of unfluoridated bottled water and reverse osmosis water filters from the bills your receive. They cannot actually force you to pay for it and anyway, those idiots who have voted for fluoride will have to pick up the bills and deficit.

Why is the phrase "topping up the level of fluoride" used by the echo?

This implies that tipping relatively large amounts of 'synthetic' fluoride into our water is somehow natural! It isn't!

The fluoride the SHA want to put in out water is NOT the same chemical that naturally occurs in water.

in addition, the level of 'artificial' fluoride they are proposing is many times higher than the highest levels of 'natural' fluoride found in water elsewhere.

the whole thing is a farce, imho.

Unfortunately, all my posts regarding fluoride appear to get deleted. So much for a free debate on the subject!

The entire fluoridation policy is based upon deception and claims of benefit based upon theory long ago shown false by researchers. Ingested fluorides just have no measurable benefit but topical can. But not at 1ppm ingested as the health department had in August firmly stated less then 1000ppm toothpaste had little benefit for young kids.
Wise up people this is a slick con job by people who assure with simple repeated lies.
One city in the US ,Augusta Ga had 80% of the kids in 1990 with dental fluorsis and 14% with the ugly on every tooth moderate and severe.This was at 1ppm not the high levels they claim it takes for this destruction.
The cost of fluoridation is very cheap because they use toxic waste directly from smokestack pollution scrubbers. It is loaded with a full page of contaminates like arsenic and lead but most are radioactive. The phosphate contains uranium but all that is left in the products now but was extracted up until 1993 when the price of yellowcake uranium fell. See AWWA b703-06 which is the standard for this product and your water company has this. The Fluoride Decception by Bryson gives all the ugly details and documents that had been secret on how the fraud came to pass. It had nothing to do about dental health but avoiding lawsuits which could put military war plants at risk of lawsuits. You can not make nukes without million of tons of fluoride. The AEC was even allowed to alter studies to prove fluoride safe and even beneficial. It was not. 19 of the EPA scientist unions have asked congress for moratorium on fluoridation in a 20 year fight. The answer to dental health is good nutrition as proven by Westonaprice.org . Dr. Prices 1939 book proved this with pictures and data of people around the world who had never seen a dentist ever but only natural not our processed refined unhealthy foods from so called advanced society. The minerals and healthy oilsand fats were off the chart. Burt 2007 shows clearly after 5 decades of fluoridation cavities increasing in big inner cities and lots of sodas,chips and treats of refined foods that destroy health. Fluoride does not save us but only makes it worse when ingested. Kids need nutrions,dentists who will treat them and train the parents to not give them bed time bottles and sippy cups that cause toatal destruction with baby bottle tooth. Fluoridation makes it worse not better. Ingested fluorides in children damage teeth making the enamel hypo minerized and brittle.This is very foolish. In the US the ADA tested dental professionals for current fluoride science and only 14% in Illinois got it right. 17% in Indiana. Most still believe with blind faith of ingested benefit. Topical reminerization was the correct answer few understood. Ingested water has near ZERO topical effect but stays in your body for life as a cumulative toxin. Good luck.

What is the legal standing should we refuse to pay our water bills due to invasive assault and deliberate poisoning?
No doubt if eveybody did it, then action must be taken.

Surely an test case for Human Rights Act is in the offing.

It's not 0.8ppm, it's 0.08ppm so 12.5 times is correct! I take it you went to school locally as well, or is your water already fluorinated? :-p

There's not enough fluoride waste wonder in the water supply to medicate people, so some will be dumped, dripped & diluted into it, to ensure that happening.

Fluoride litter is sooo wonderful & beneficial when forcibly imposed on us, as it is supposed to only magically affect the teeth, yet nothing else, when passing through the inside??

Yeah sure...

You can bet, that these chiefs, will NOT be able to back up their claims in writing (with their signature), that no harm will be done, when they'll be enforcing this toxin onto us!!...
