A DELIVERY driver was robbed of more than 80 parcels and his van at knifepoint in the centre of a Hampshire village.

The 30-year-old victim had just dropped off a parcel in Rownhams Lane in North Baddesley when he was suddenly confronted by the robber who threatened him with a knife and told him to get out of the driver's seat. He then drove off his van at high speed, turning left into nearby Rownhams Road.

Police describe the wanted man as being aged 20-30, about 6ft 2in, of slim building and at the time was wearing a blue zip-up fleece with long sleeves and jeans.

Acting Sgt Tim Ronaldsdon said the drama happened between 12.45-1.15pm yesterday and there must have been people on what is a busy road that links North Baddesley and Rownhams.

He told the Daily Echo: "I am keen to find out where it went after turning into Rownhams Road. This happened in broad daylight and someone must have been seen this van being driven off at speed."

The van, registration number BU06 JVE, is white in colour with a turquoise arrow and bearing the house logo of Home Delivery on the back and side panels.

Makes me laugh.... all those people in North Baddesley who think they are so much better than the lowly Southampton resident...

I was unfortunate enough to live in North Baddesley for seven years. What a horrible snooty, yet divided (there is a council estate...heavens above!) place it is. Give me Woolston anytime, real people and not Hiacynth Bouquet type in sight!

Could not have been a local who robbed the van then? Surely they would have crashed? Any news on who nicked it?
