OWNERS of a dog found abandoned in a field are being urged to come forward.

The lurcher, known as Seth to RSPCA staff, was found suffering from a bad skin condition in Fareham.

The dog, thought to be around three years old, was taken to the Stubbington Ark where he is currently being brought back to health.

He was suffering from a severe skin irritation, with much of his skin showing through his tan and black fur. He was also bleeding on the tops of his legs from scratching and had sore rings around his eyes caused by mange.

Seth has been shaved and is receiving regular baths to aid his recovery and is getting treatment for his eye infection and his sores.

Despite his ordeal Seth is a friendly dog and has charmed all the staff at the Ark since his arrival on November 20.

Jenny Ride, RSPCA inspector, said: “We are unsure how the dog came to be in the area unsupervised. He may have been abandoned, have escaped or even been stolen and then later dumped.

“I would urge anyone with information about him to contact the RSPCA.”

Vanessa Eden, from the Ark, added: “Seth is a lovely dog, full of character and really affectionate. He is very patient with his treatment.”

Anyone with any information should contact the RSPCA Cruelty and Information Line on 0300 1234 999 and leave a message for Inspector Ride. Calls are treated in confidence.
