MEMBERS of a Winchester therapy group has been given a four-figure sum for new instruments.
Priory Gardens Music Group has received a Grassroots Grant from the Hampshire & Isle of Wight Community Foundation.
The grant of £1,894 was awarded to help cover costs of purchasing musical instruments and recording equipment, put on performances and allow them to continue and expand the work of the group.
The group, based in Parchment Street, provides opportunities for those suffering from mental health problems and/or bereavements to take part in music sessions and to become involved in producing and giving musical performances.
Finn Marriage, who runs the group, said: “The facility the group provides goes a long way to easing the many worries and anxieties of those who are experiencing mental health issues or a bereavement.
“Being able to express themselves through music also helps to improve their confidence and ability to cope with their situation.”
