WHILE most of us were shivering through the heaviest snowfall for almost 20 years, a couple of residents at Marwell Zoo were in their element.
The snow forced the zoo to close to the public on Monday, but 12-year-old Amur tigress Yenna and 16-year-old snow leopard Yasmin felt right at home in the wintry conditions.
For 14-month-old Kiska the zoo’s Amur leopard, it was also the first significant amount of snow she had experienced in her short life.
Amur leopards, which are native to Siberia, are critically endangered with less than 35 live in the wild.
Keepers have been busy providing the other animals that are not so keen on the winter weather with extra bedding and warmth.
