PART of a Hampshire industrial site has been sealed off following the discovery of unexploded ordnance.

A 40-metre exclusion zone was set up at Marchwood Industrial Park after five separate devices were found near a new power station that is nearing completion.

Work on the huge building was halted after the ordnance - thought to have been there for many years - was unearthed shortly after 2pm.

A police spokesman said one of the devices was believed to be part of the firing mechanism from a flare.

He added that bomb disposal experts had been called to the site and would either remove the devices or carry out a series of controlled explosions.
