A 51-year-old man from Eastleigh suffered life threatening injuries after he was involved in a two car collision on a Hampshire road today.
He was airlifed by the air ambulance to Southampton General Hospital with internal chest injuries following the accident on the A31 at Alresford.
The seriously injured man had been driving a Red Ford Mondeo taxi which was in collision with a Silver Audi at around 1.50pm.
A 31-year-old passenger in the Mondeo was uninjured and the 56-year-old woman driver of the Audi was shaken but unhurt.
The road was closed for four and a half hours to allow the air ambulance to land and for an investigation of the scene to be carried out.
Police are appealing for any witnesses to call Cosham Roads Policing Unit on 0845 045 4545 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111, quoting Operation Guest.
