Police have launched a murder enquiry following the discovery of a man's body at his Hampshire home.
Officers were called to an address on Friday, where they found the body of John McCarthy, 34.
A police cordon was set up to preserve the scene to allow forensic officers to investigate.
A post mortem was carried out by a home office pathologist on Saturday, July 4.
Post mortem results and further investigation confimed that the death was suspicious and a murder enquiry was launched by the Major Crime Team at Fratton police station this morning.
Detective Chief Inspector David Powell said: "As part of our investigation, we are appealing to anyone who saw Mr McCarthy prior to his death to come forward, in order to help us piece together his movements.
"If you saw Mr McCarthy in the Waterlooville area between 6am on Thursday, July 2 and 12pm on Friday, July 3, please contact police as soon as possible as you may have vital information that could help with our enquiry."
The investigation was launched after Mr McCarthy's body was found at his home in Daisy Mead, Waterlooville.
