Ah, Southampton's racist majority finds its voice.

I work in St Marys and have done for the last 15 years, more decent people you couldnt wish for. Every race under the sun lives down there and 99$ of the people are very decent. As in all areas you will get your rubbish but overall a great community

Unfair. I think real racists are in the minority in Southampton, and a diminishing.
That said, one is too many for any community with self-respect.

Without wishing to appear crass, hasn't this been an "unofficial no-go area" for anybody other than residents for a very long time. I stopped playing squash at St.Marys Sports Hall a long time ago.

Why not a headline
"Black Gang Attack White Women"

The council should give serious thought why these racial ghettos are establishing themselves in various parts of the city - its pretty obvious

Another case where the attack was not publicised until five days later. Most people avoid this area near the Royal South Hants Hospital at night, indeed on the occasions that I have visited the RSH in the evening I have witnessed drug taking in the car parks and other anti-social activities.

why does skin colour make a difference to if you are a criminal or not? You need to be a bit more in touch with reality. Your post offends me a lot. Would you say the same about white british people if this exact same offence happened in a majority white british estate by three white british suspects?

Skin colour doesn't make any difference at all.

You're all jumping because you assume its coloured people attacking a white female.

Story doesn't state the victim's ethnic background, but if it was a coloured woman.... I bet these rascists would have a different tone.

Mainly-white Thornhill's a delightful place in the evenings too.

Regardless of skin colour or ethnic minority, these criminals need to be locked up asap.

When I've been on nights out in Southampton I've had to go through St Marys on a few occasions and to be honest, I don't feel safe. I think it's probably the worst area in the city and has been for years.

Almost everytime I go through St Marys at night I see some wierdo. Like some guy who tried to sell me a mobile phone (which was obviously stolen) or the guy who was desperately trying to pick up slices of pizza from the pavement, but was having so much difficulty it was a complete joke... obviously a druggy.

I honestly don't understand why Southampton police don't send out some undercover police officers to the area after dark.

Simon, they did say 'black', but that's not racialistic but merely it's easier to identify these attackers. The problem is everyone is afraid to say how they feel about multi-culturism. Sadly, St Mary's longstanding neighbours have to live with this terrible wave of violence and I feel really sorry for them, over the years they have had to put up with so many 'undesirable' residents. What do we do - the Police must look on St Marys as a 'no go area'. - Any suggestions?

I worked next to the RSH for 5 years. There are a fair few people there that are living on the fringes of society. But in all that time, the only time I got any trouble in the area was from a Derby fan who'd clearly missed his train. I last saw him walking into the middle of St Mary's shouting "We are Derby, Derby! **** you! **** you!". I wonder what happened to him tbh!

But my abiding memory is walking through St Mary's, pulling out an empty packet and finding I had no cigarettes, and being offered a fag by a homeless bloke I'd talked to a few times as I walked past him.

Don't judge a book etc...

St Marys has been 'dodgy' for decades as well as having a fairly high ethnic population.

The drugs problem has also exacerbated the problems along with the general rise in violent crime, fuelled by booze and it can be mirrored in South London.

It's not 'racist' to mention this fact, despite the 'sensitive' left-wingers who keep banging away on their soapboxes.

We also have massive increases in African immigrant traffic - many of them coming from lawless areas so they tend to import this part of their own culture/background.

Add to the mix our Eastern European 'guests' and you can see the dilemma we now face.

The unpalatable truth is plain to see and the general public are not stupid.

I'm all for controlled immigration and welcome a multicultural Britain - it has bene the backbone of our country for centuries.

Look at the USA as well - a fairly new country built on mass immigration although certain races do better than other. Not forgetting the shame of slavery that helped build the early economy of the Southern States.

A blot on the history books but we all have to move forward and embrace the world in which we live
