DANGEROUSLY overweight people in Southampton could be offered cash to lose weight, the Daily Echo can reveal.
Obese dieters would be given a £1 shopping voucher for fruit and vegetables for every pound of weight lost under the scheme.
City health chiefs have admitted they would consider adopting the so-called “pound for pound” project if a pilot scheme elsewhere in the UK later this year is successful. It would be among a raft of measures to help people across the city fight the flab.
The latest battle against the bulge comes after new figures reveal that just over one in four Southampton adults are classed as obese.
