Romsey's Beggars Fair kicks off with some unconventional acts

FOLK, blues and street entertainers filled a Hampshire market town as it celebrated its annual free music festival.

Romsey’s Beggars Fair kicked off on Friday night in pubs and clubs and continued throughout Saturday.

Among the more unconventional acts were The Beer Can Chorus, a 72-year-old mother and her two daughters, who are known for their Amy Winehouse impression, and Captain Drivers Delight and their barrage of bagpipes.

Street acts provided vivid dance displays, children’s entertainment and unusual performances. These included the popular Broughton Long Sword Dance Group, Gary Nunn Ticklish Allsorts Show and The Hand to Mouth Theatre.
