POLICE have confirmed that a motorist has died after his car hit a tree on a Hampshire road.
Police closed the A27 after the incident at around 3.50pm yesterday, which happened when the Renault Megane left the road on a blind bend near Shootash.
No other vehicles were involved.
The man, who has not yet been identified, was in his eighties. Detectives are informing next of kin. Diversions werein place at the junction of the A27 and A3090 near Romsey, and at Cowsfield on the A27 in Wiltshire.
