The Tigers: Proud duo honoured

THEIR experiences couldn’t have been further apart on the frontline. But yesterday Lance Corporal Roger Everett and Private Callum Daly were united when they stepped up to receive medals before family and friends and a cheering home crowd.

Lce Cpl Everett, 27, originally from Shirley, said: “It’s been awesome and gives you a huge sense of pride. My mum Lucy and sister Theresa were both here in the crowds watching me.”

Pte Daly, 18, from Bitterne, was being cheered on by family and friends including mum Natasha, dad David, brother Joe and girlfriend Nicky.

He said: “It felt really good, I felt really proud. It’s nice to see so many people behind us. It’s the biggest turnout we’ve had and it shows you that people are aware of just what we are doing out there.”
