POLICE have named the scooter rider who died in an accident in a Hampshire village.

Stephen Tippetts, who was about to get engaged, was travelling along Marchwood Road, Marchwood, on Wednesday when he collided with a roadside sign.

Mr Tippetts, 30, of Maritime Avenue, Marchwood, died at the scene.

In a statement his family said: “We are in complete shock and numb at the loss of a dear son.”

Police are appealing for witnesses to the accident, which occurred near the entrance to the Bury Brickfields Caravan Park.
