POLICE in Southampton have made a fresh appeal for witnesses over the murder of Wieslaw Filus after five men were released on bail.
Detectives released the five aged 26, 27, 39, 43 and 48, after they were arrested over the death of the 45-year-old Polish labourer.
The victim’s body was discovered in his bedsit in Denzil Avenue on Saturday morning and a post-mortem revealed he died following a blow to the head.
It has sparked a murder inquiry involving 25 detectives dubbed Operation Hopscotch.
The five arrested men have been released on bail until September 2.
Detectives have also launched a dedicated telephone line for Polish speakers wanting to pass on information and speak in confidence to a Polish intepreter. They can phone or text information to 07789846700.
