SIX cars had their windows smashed during a spree of car thefts in Whitchurch and Highclere.

Two laptops, two mobile phones, a camera, a rucksack and a purse were taken from cars at the Beacon Hill car park, on the A340, in Highclere, and the Watership Down Inn car park, on the B3400, in Whitchurch.

The thefts happened sometime between 5pm and 8.30pm on Sunday.

A man, described as white, 5ft 10in to 6ft tall and wearing a white or grey hooded top was seen at the Watership Down car park jumping into the driver's seat of a red car before heading off towards Kingsclere.
