A ROYAL Mail worker, who is accused of murdering fellow Saints soccer steward Paula Poolton has been granted bail.
Roger Kearney was released after making an application to a judge in chambers at Winchester Crown Court.
The 56-year-old, from Painswick Close, Park Gate, had originally been refused bail during a 50-minute hearing before Southampton magistrates last month.
When he appeared at Winchester Crown Court for a preliminary hearing on July 7, he did not make a bail application but has since made one.
Kearney has been bailed for a plea and case management hearing at the court on October 19.
In the interim, he must live at an address in Lincolnshire and report daily to the police there.
He has been banned from contacting prosecution witnesses and cannot return to Hampshire except for pre-arranged appointments.
He has also been released a £35,000 surety to observe all the conditions.
Kearney was arrested in June in connection with the murder of Mrs Poolton who was last seen shopping in Bursledon on October 17.
Her body was found in the boot of of her black Peugeot car in Duncan Road, near Swanwick Station, 11 days later. She had suffered multiple stab wounds.
