ALL EYES will be on the skies across the New Forest at the More Bus Bournemouth Air Festival this weekend.
Thrills, spills and a world record breaking display of 110,000 fireworks in under a minute will feature from tomorrow until Sunday.
The Red Bull matadors, the Kitty Hawk and the Avro Vulcan bomber are the newest recruits to the festival line-up. Old favourites the Red Arrows will take to the sky on Friday, Saturday and Sunday for the UK’s biggest free festival of its kind along the town’s seven miles of beaches.
Jon Weaver, Air Festival director, said: “After last year’s unprecedented success, we did wonder how we could improve on the event, but we have secured some fantastic aircraft for this year’s festival.
“In particular The Red Bull Matadors who only display at a few events each year, so it is great news that Bournemouth is one of them.”
On the shore the Royal Marines will show their strength and prowess with a host of displays across the weekend including beach assaults and combat displays.
Tomorrow night also sees Roar on the Shore, the Marines world record firework attempt in aid of Help for Heroes – filling the skies with big bangs and bright colours 110,000 times over in just 60 seconds.
Roar on the Shore, which starts at 9.30pm, is part of a whole programme of night air events across the weekend in Lower Gardens, a short walk from the main arena.
Other night air events include a hot air balloon glow, a laser display and more fireworks on Saturday evening from 10pm.
Weather forecasts for the festival could be better, with damp conditions expected for the first two days but improving on Saturday and Sunday.
Organiser Jon added: “This year’s Air Festival will no doubt cement our reputation as the leading aviation festival of its kind – I am sure the hundreds of thousands of people expected will enjoy every minute!”
