IT’S the dance craze set to sweep the south.

We’re all familiar with Channon’s windmill, Crouch’s robot, Shearer’s single arm in the air and Kenwyne Jones’ back flip, but they are about to become very old hat indeed.

For Saints’ new signing Papa Waigo N’Diaye has a goal celebration that knocks the socks – and shin pads – off all of them.

The 25-year-old Senagalese striker, who has arrived at St Mary’s on a season- long loan deal, doesn’t just boost the team’s attacking options, but is set to improve the moves on the county’s dance floors.

For Waigo has a unique goal celebration that has already seen him become an online sensation, with thousands of people watching videos of his bizarre dance.

And since his signing was announced, fans in offices, shops and pubs around Hampshire have been recreating and practising the distinctive moves.

Their one hope now is that, should he get clearance and feature in the squad for tomorrow’s game against Colchester, supporters get to see the Papa Dance performed for real with him bagging a debut goal.

And to help supporters in the stands join in, the Daily Echo today gives you a step-by-step guide to the moves that are so easy even a three-year-old can do it.

Saints Trust chairman Nick Illingsworth said he believes if Waigo does get goals he could go on to follow in the footsteps of the likes of Matt Le Tissier, Francis Benali and Mick Channon by becoming a firm fans’ favourite.

“I’m inspired by the signing, for the comedy value if nothing else – he’s got the potential to become a cult hero here,” he said.

“We’re used to those figures here, but there hasn’t really been one for a while so let’s get that back and bring back a bit of atmosphere.

“He comes with his own dance and also his own song, because the one we sing for Marek Saganowski at the moment is a tune called Papa’s Got a Brand New Pig Bag, so there a lot of fun to be had from it.

“He’s just got to get a goal now!

“If he scores on Saturday I would like to see him doing the dance, because football should be fun.

“That fun has gone out of football at Saints in the last few years, and I’m for anything that will help bring it back.”
