Thieves steal £60K supercars from docks

Range Rover Sport Range Rover Sport

THIEVES broke into a compound at Southampton docks and stole four stateof- the-art cars worth almost £250,000.

The gang forced the fence to access the metallic-finish blue/green Range Rover Sports which were waiting to be exported to Chile.

They then drove the vehicles, which have leather interiors and are worth £60,000 each, back out of the hole in the fence, near Mayflower Terminal, before abandoning them within the docks at a scrapyard.

None of the vehicles, which were parked in a compound containing about 900 identical cars, were damaged.

Security guards raised the alarm at about 3.30am yesterday after finding the hole in the fence, but it is thought the cars were stolen a couple of hours earlier.

One was recovered during the early hours and the remaining three were found following a thorough search of the area later yesterday morning.

Police are urging anyone with information to call Shirley CID on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

Even the right hand drive versions don't have a high value in the UK because they're not very well built and they're prone to failure.

There are thousands of cars in the docks. Most of the cars bought under the scrappage scheme have been in docks for 18 months- a handy way for dealers to get rid of them.

condor your right they do drive on the other side of the road, well they did the last time i was in punta arenas.

These people will eventually reap what they sow in their lives.

"Driving in Chile is not difficult. You drive on the right hand side of the road. Chilean drivers are not the best in the world and are very uncourteous but they generally obey the rules. Foreigners must have an International Driver's Permit until they obtain residency when they must apply for a local licence and undertake a multiple choice exam (translators are usually allowed). "

Just in case the thieves were thinking of delivery to the door and for Mac1989's info
