THE ashes of the last Titanic survivor, Millvina Dean, were today scattered at the spot where the ill-fated liner departed from Southampton almost a century ago.
A Southampton harbourmaster’s launch was used to carry Millvina’s ashes to berth 44 in the city’s Eastern Docks.
Earlier today, friends and family gathered for a memorial service at St.Mary’s Church, Copythorne – where the 97-year-old’s funeral took place last June.
The British Titanic Society help to organise the memorial events, which were aimed at reflecting Millvina’s close connections with the sea, ships and Southampton.
