“A DATE with a gorgeous underwear model – sold for 83p.”

This is the phrase that made a 51- year-old Hampshire pet-sitter’s dream come true.

Kevin Whelan, from Titchfield Park, Fareham, won a night of dinner and dancing in London with 18-year-old Stacey Hannant in an online charity auction raising money for MacMillan Cancer Support.

It is quite possible the two will spend the night swapping modelling tips as the dad-of-three was one of the ten finalists in the Daily Echo Hampshire Hunks competition.

He said: “I can’t believe it. It’s a dream come true and I can’t wait to meet Stacey. I will be the envy of all the other blokes in the nightclub on our date.

“When I saw her online I thought I would bid but didn’t think I’d have much of a chance as I thought people would pay hundreds of pounds for this kind of night out.

“As she is only 18 I don’t think she would by interested in romance but I might see if I can put in a good word for my 17-year-old son.”

Kevin, who lives with his partner Carol Barnes, had to bid ten times to claim this hot lot as rival suitors kept upping the offer by 1p.

Glamour and lingerie model Stacey, who won UK’s Hottest Student and Miss Bikini Babe UK competitions, said: “I am really pleased to be supporting such a good cause although I must admit I’m a bit nervous going on a date with someone I haven’t met.

“I don’t know what it would take to sweep me off my feet but my ideal man would be sporty, tall, down to earth and make me laugh.”

The Doncaster teenager is only a part-time model as she is in the first year of a sports science degree at Lincoln University.

This is a first of a series of high profile auction items to be sold off by MadBid with more planned including a game of tennis against a grand slam champion, a celebrity chef to cater at a private dinner party and a made-to-order outfit by a top designer.
