CATHEDRAL bosses in Winchester are handing out 50,000 copies of a Christmas guide to attractions in the city.
Alan Titchmarsh will be at the cathedral on Saturday, December 12, for the Lord Lieutenant’s Carol Concert.
Two days later, the venue will host On Angel Wings, a Christmas story featuring live music and narration by Michael Morpurgo and Juliet Stevenson.
Opera singer Bryn Terfel will be paying a visit and is due to take the leading role in Elijah, which is being staged by Winchester Music Club on Thursday, November 26.
The following evening, the popular cathedral Christmas market and ice rink will open for business.
It will coincide with a parade of paper lanterns from The Great Hall through the medieval heart of Winchester to the Inner Close.
The market will also trade for one week longer than before, and will open until Sunday, December 20. The ice rink will operate until Sunday, January 3, and tickets will cost £9.20 for adults, £7.20 for concessions and £30 for families.
Christmas services inside the cathedral itself will begin on Saturday, November 28. They include carol services along with family services at 11am and 3pm on Christmas Eve.
