CRACK team last night smashed the UK record for the largest ever tower of poppadoms.
City councillors and parliamentary candidates Royston Smith and Jeremy Moulton, pictured above, joined forces with Steve Fry and Rashmi Chande from Southampton and Fareham Chamber of Commerce to take on the challenge at Poppadom Express.
They were joined by the Oxford Street restaurant’s managing director Aazaz Khan along with a team of his chefs to make sure the massive four-foot stack didn’t topple.
The team obliterated the restaurant’s record of 230, a national record in 2007, as well as the current UK record of 282 by piling up a whopping 450 poppadoms into a static tower.
The event was part of celebrations for National Curry Week and also raised money for Oxfam.
