POLICE are investigating after a young man was allegedly sexually assaulted on a night out with friends.

Officers on the Isle of Wight were called to Newport shortly before 4am on Friday after reports that a young man was sexually assaulted by another man in the town centre.

DS Gary Lyons said the victim had spent time with a group of men and women he had met in Yates’s bar in the High Street on Thursday night.

Detectives would like to hear from witnesses who were in or near the bar during Thursday night and the early hours of Friday.
