More Isle of Wight Festival acts announced for next summer

POPULAR girlband The Saturdays, rising soul singer Paloma Faith and Manchester bands Doves and James are the latest to join the line-up for next summer’s Isle of Wight Festival.

Ocean Colour Scene, Shakespears Sister and Daisy Dares You have also been announced for the three day event from June 11 next year.

The latest details of the festival in Seaclose Park, Newport, come after it was announced music superstar Jay-Z will be headlining the first night of the event, along with The Strokes headlining Saturday night, and with Pink and Blondie also previously confirmed.

Tickets for the festival are still available and the headlining slot for the mainstage on Sunday night has yet to be revealed.

James will headline The Big Top stage on Sunday evening. The band spearheaded the Madchester movement in the early nineties and received universal acclaim with hits including the anthemic Sit Down, Laid, Getting Away With It (All Messed Up) and Born Of Frustration.

Doves will be taking to the Main Stage on Friday 11 June. The band, also from Manchester, is made up of twin brothers Jez and Andy Williams along with school friend Jimi Goodwin.

Their 2000 album release, Lost Souls, was heralded a masterpiece on its release and was nominated for a prestigious Mercury Music Prize.

The eagerly anticipated follow up, Kingdom of Rust, was released earlier this year.

Birmingham's kings of rock 'n' folk Ocean Colour Scene will play the Big Top on Sunday.

Paloma Faith will be bringing her brand of bluesy soul with tracks including Stone Cold Sober and New York to the festival as she plays the Main Stage on Saturday afternoon and pop princesses The Saturdays will be making their festival debut at The Big Top on Saturday.

Other confirmed acts include electronica duo Orbital and new wave band Squeeze.

Was going to buy a ticket but to be honest although some big names the line up dont really grab me personally, real mixed bag with jay-z right through to blondie, Would much prefer to see the Kings or the Foos headlining!now that would be worth the £160+
