A GROUP of ex-servicemen raised £3,000 by giving schoolchildren a history lesson.
A Hampshire team who will be recreating one of the most daring raids of the Second World War visited Crofton School, Fareham, and spoke to the children about the Cockleshell Heroes and the charities they were supporting.
The money, raised with the help of the schoolchildren, teachers and parents, will go toward the £60,000 target which will be split between Daily Echo-backed Help for Heroes and the RNLI. The group have currently raised about £5,000 and received all their equipment worth £12,000 provided free after an appeal by the Daily Echo. To sponsor them contact David on 07867 750252.
Steve Scott of Help for Heroes is pictured with the youngsters.
