Pastors will cover Hedge End, West End and Botley

VOLUNTEERS are needed for a new team of street pastors coming to Hampshire in the new year.

A group will be set up to cover Hedge End, West End and Botley to support the local authority and the police by helping vulnerable people out on the streets.

To work in the community as a street pastor you must be over 18, be a church member for more than a year, supply two references and complete an application form signed by the church leader.

For more information go to streetpastors.org.uk.

Street Pastors have been fantastic in Fair Oak, Eastleigh and Southampton city centre. The police have commented that they offer a positive presence and it's commendable that people are still willing to give up their time for others.

I agree, anyone who gives up their time voluntarily like this and 'cares' is amazing. All power to them for helping people :)

Well i'm well over 18. I can get the references. But as a lay Buddhist I have no church to be a member of. Should I cry discrimination?

The "church membership" clause shows that it's not so much about helping people as brainwashing them and pedling superstitious beliefs.
