TWIXX the horny tawny owl who kept his neighbours awake with late night mating calls has flown the nest.
The nocturnal neighbour of residents from a nearby block of flats has moved out of his home of 12-years to a newly built aviary in Titchfield.
Hedge End resident Wendy Whitfield, from Hedge End, Southampton received numerous offers to house Twixx after his plight was featured in the Daily Echo in January.
The bird settled well into his new home and new keeper Ken Kerley said that he hadn’t made a single hoot on his first night in the new aviary.
Wendy, a finance clerk for Botley Parish Council, said: “I am sad about it, when you have kept owls for around 20-years it’s the little things like getting their food out of the freezer the night before that I miss. It’s no longer part of my routine.
“I had so many calls that I’ve now got a list to go through to let everyone know what’s happened.”
