Judge gets mum thrown out of court

A WOMAN had to be removed from court shouting “It’s all lies!” and “You are all liars!” as her son was further remanded in custody for throwing boiling water over her.

Dinah Dicks was treated in hospital for slight burns to her shoulders and upper arms.

Her son claimed he did not realise how hot the water was when he flung it from a kettle.

Judge Gary Burrell QC had warned Mrs Dicks about her conduct as she muttered remarks in the public gallery during the hearing. But she protested when he was remanded and had to be led from the room, still shouting.

Southampton Crown Court heard Christopher Dicks had drunk two cans of lager while sawing wood in the back garden and modifying a fireguard in the garage.

Dicks, 49, of Lyndhurst Road, Hinton, admitted causing actual bodily harm.

Defence barrister Nicholas Robinson said he was “very remorseful” and that his mother had forgiven him.

Said to have 13 previous convictions, most alcohol-related, Dicks had sentence adjourned until March 31 with a warning from the judge that he could face a lengthy prison sentence.
