SHOPAHOLICS heading for WestQuay this weekend are being urged to add a new item to their shopping lists – saving lives.

The Race for Life road show will remind shoppers that the UK’s largest women-only fundraising event series is now open for entries and is achievable by all women, regardless of age, shape or size.

Cancer Research UK staff and volunteers will be at WestQuay between the lifts and Marks & Spencer from 10am to 5pm on both Saturday and Sunday. The Race for Life roadshow will give women the chance to sign-up for the southern events. Cancer Research UK staff will also be on hand to answer questions about fundraising and the impressive strides scientists are making to treat, diagnose and prevent cancer.

Natalie Max, area marketing manager for Cancer Research UK’s Race for Life, said: “We hope lots of women will come along to see us at WestQuay and find out more about Race for Life.”

She added: “Many are put off entering Race for Life because they think they won’t be able to complete the course. But women often cover several kilometres on an average shopping trip, without even realising it.”

Race for Life events are being staged across the region from May to July, including Winchester, taking place at North Walls Recreation Ground on June 13, and Southampton, at The Common on July 11.
